It’s time to pack

With us due to begin our South American adventure tomorrow morning, the theme of today was packing and letting people know not to worry if they didn’t see us around for a couple of days.

The gathering the clothes part of packing was relatively easy as we were intending to recycle clothes where possible. We also had an ok idea of the weather may do, which was a mix of cold and warmer weather. It was the getting them to fit into the bag part that was a little more difficult.

As we were going to be only using carry on luggage, we needed to make sure that we had enough space to squish the bags down to put them into the overhead lockers. The intended outcome was eventually achieved.

People got excited when we said we were going to Machu Picchu and wanted to know where we were going and what we were going to see. I think we got quite good at giving a five minute overview of our itinerary and answering the various questions – the most frequently asked one was ‘Aren’t you worried you’ll miss the ship?’ Our standard response was ‘No, not really, we’re on the first flight out of Cusco’.

Other than packing, there were the usual activities as well as a short nap during the afternoon.

Fun fact:
The carry on allowance for the airline we are using is 8kg. As we don’t have any luggage scales, I have no idea how much the bags weigh. I can only assume it’s under the limit.
