From the mountains to the sea.

Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka
6 o'clock start this morning was we were going walking on the edge of the rainforest with the hotels 'nature expert'. It was an interesting walk, especially as he kept making bird calls in the hope of making birds appear. We heard lots of birds and so a few. He also told us a little about the plants; some used for medicine as they are very in to natural cures here, some used just for flowers. We learned a little about tea plants too as the hotel was based in the middle of a tea plantation.
Having returned to the hotel it was time for breakfast and then to move on again . We were taken back down the tight curves and narrow bends that was the road down from the hotel by one of the hotel workers who knew the road well. Abey was very pleased not to have to drive or to take his car up that road!
Our journey to day was quite a short one, just about three hours. Road surfaces out here are generally good but the roads have lots of corners and blind bends as well as tuk-tucks who have their own rules of the road. The scenery and little towns are beginning to look familiar now, similar small shops in each town, people going about their daily activities.
Finally we reached the town of Galle right on the coast and were able to see the sea again.
After lunch in a restaurant whose Terrace over looks the sea it was on to our home for tonight, the the Fort Bazaar. It all seems very nice, comfy room, close to the sea but it seems to be unlicensed as the only drinks available are fizzy!!! Oh well it's only for tonight.
Tomorrow we have another early start before moving on.
