Bow Bridge, Western Australia, Australia
Left our lovely campsite in Albany this morning to continue our adventures in WA.
First stop was Emu Point just around the corner from our base . It has a really lovely beach, white sand and blue sea. stunning. There were already children playing on the beach and in the sea; this is obviously a lovely place for a play date.
Moving ever on about an hour down the road we stopped for morning tea at the little town of Denmark. Morning tea parked up by the river takes some beating. The bears seemed to enjoy it too.
Then it was time to explore the town; basically one street. Lots of interesting shops and very friendly people. One shop keeper suggested that we try a Bay a few miles down the road before traveling on. There was also a really good bakery which seemed to be exuding fantastic smell as we walked past. Guess what we have for tea to night? - pies! We went for some different ones, mushy pea pies! Intreging, apparently a beef pie with the top cut off and mushy peas put in and the top replaces. Sounds good. Will find out later!!
After a picnic lunch we moved on to find the Greens Pool suggested by our friendly shop man. Amazing! It was absolutely fantastic; the sea really was green/blue and the was a natural harbour of the most stunning rock formations which provided a calm pool for swimming and snorkelling while the waves raged and whipped around behind them. It was very dramatic! Watching the waves made Laurie want to paddle, so we found swim things and went into the cold water!
Having got over the shock of the cold water I actually went for a swim!!! It was very refreshing.
More exploration revealed the lovely Elephant Cove, massive rock structures that looked exactly like a herd of elephants on the side of the beach. Another amazing sight, and to think we would probably missed it all if we hadn't wandered into a surf shop this morning!!!
It was a lovely day but now it was time to find our 'home' for tonight. A few miles from the coast we found Ayr Salent, up a long winding track and probably a farm at some time but it's quite unusual and just for one night!
