Well sadly it's come, the end of our 2017 travel adventure. Tonight we leave Singapore first for Dubai and then for home; tomorrow morning after stop overs, time zone changes and amazing sights we will be back in the U.K.
To day Mikey is not feeling well so a slow start not leaving the hotel until nearly mid morning .
We wandered through the mall and headed for the one place you must visit in Singapore, Raffles. The place still looks amazing as we went through to the sections open to the public, strange as last time we stayed here in that amazing suite! Still another time. There was lots of publicity about the hotel being 130 years old and also that the famous Singapore Sling is over 100 years old. Invented in 1915 it was seen as the best way for ladies to drink alcohol in public, good idea it was too! The long bar is closed for renovations that you can still enjoy the drink in the Billiard Room. It will at least give us an excuse to go there next time to check out the new Long Bar!!
Apart from this nothing seems to have changed; the gift shop still has its strange collection of curios, lunch was being served in the magnificent dinning room and the door man is still on duty outside. Sadly looking a little more tired and stooped now but still very much in charge!!
By the time we got there the mall was quite busy, partly with workers on their lunch break. Or was interesting to wander around some of these shops and wonder who has the money to keep the shopping going? It is an interesting way to pass time.
All too soon it's time to return to the hotel to pack for the journey home, we have a late check out thanks to our lovely manager Richie. It will soon be time to leave for the last time this trip which is always sad.
