Well it's the first day of our trip to Hong Kong! We were up at 6am, for a house departure of 6:20am. Pam gave us a lift to the airport on her way to work for 7am. Thanks Pam! The wait in the Winnipeg airport and subsequent flight to O’Hare International airport were both uneventful.
O’Hare is the second busiest airport in the World. We had about 90 minutes on the ground there. After walking from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, we decided to have a small bite to eat, as we weren’t sure when the first meal on the flight was going to be. We grabbed a couple of cheeseburgers at the Billy Goat Tavern. For those of you who watched Saturday Night Live from the Belushi/Ackroyd years, this restaurant was the inspiration for their "Cheeborger, Cheeseborger, no fries, cheeps, Pepsi, no Coke!" sketches.
Once at the departure gate, Eve had some computer work to do, so I set off for a walk. After a short walk I returned, with my bottles of Crown Royal and Johnny Walker from the Duty Free Shop (2 litres total for about $34 CDN).
Now having flown down on a very small jet (Canadaire CRJ200) that seats 50, we were about to board a much larger Boeing 747-400, that seats almost 400.
More when we arrive in Hong Kong.
