Tuesday in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China
First day of Eve's Conference today.

We got up a little later than usual, got ready to go, and headed down to the Kool Café for our breakfast. It was quite a layout with all kinds of food stations and far too many selections to try everything.

After breakfast Eve headed off to her first meeting of the day, and I headed out onto the streets of Kowloon.

Kowloon is an area of 27 square kilometers, with a population of 2.1 million people, which makes it one of the most densely populated areas on the planet. Almost everything is within walking distance or one could take the MTR(subway). I choose to walk, as I wanted to see all I could see. Needless to say, I saw quite a bit. I found many markets, the Ladies Market, electronics, clothing, many food markets that the locals take advantage of, with include fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, and almost anything one needs to feed a household . Around 1pm I got a little thirsty, so I stopped at a MacDonalds for a Coke and Filet O Fish Sandwich. The restaurant was very crowded, as it was filled with school children, who were apparently on their lunch break. About this time the wind really came up and I was reminded that there was a Typhoon lurking.

I made my way back out into the streets, encountered more markets, some warehouse area’s, , a Lion Dance, being performed at a business in the market area, and by now, the leading edge of the Typhoon. Being quite wet, I finished my shopping and headed back to the Hotel.

My cousin Bill and his fiance Deborah also arrived in Hong Kong today. We planned to meet up with them in the evening. We headed out to some bars along the Bay, "Bull Dogs" and "McLovin's Tavern" and had a couple of drinks and tapas. We started outside o the patio, but quickly had to move indoors, as the rain and wind really started to come down on us.   After a bit, we then made our way through some backstreets to a restaurant called the Bird Cage. We spent a couple of hours there, had some drinks and shared some Peking Duck for dinner, which I had never had before.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel for the night, as the weather was getting a little nasty with rain and high winds.
