Time to leave

Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
Regretfully with every trip, it's time to make our way home.
Up for breakfast and the last preparations to leave.
Our WestJet flight is scheduled to leave at 1:40 pm (06:40 at home), Dublin to Calgary. We fly from Calgary back to Regina. When we woke up this morning departure had been pushed back to 1420 local. We opt to catch the 10am shuttle so we have lots of time. For the biggest airport on the Emerald Isle the airport looks small, but usually the clue us what it's like after security, so we'll see shortly.
Security was pretty brisk as there was a subway type turn entrance where we scan our own boarding passes to get through to what looked like about 9 security scanning terminals.
Once through security there was a huge mall of designer shops, regular refreshment, news & souvenir shops and restaurants. We of course stopped in the duty free store which had an entire wall of various Irish Whiskeys. True to the trip, we each picked up another bottle. I was disappointed they didn't have the duty free airport exclusive ornamental liquor filled bottles like from in the Asian duty free shops.
We almost forgot about the VAT until we got to the departure gate, just over 3 hours before departure. It took a while but Greg finally found the VAT (tax) refund desk in terminal 1 by the 300 numbered gates. (I stayed with the luggage at the departure gate.) He must have been frustrated looking for it as the directions on our VAT refund envelope were not clear, because he actually asked 2 people for directions!! Turns out the only receipts which were eligible for refund are items we are taking out if the country and have either the long tax receipt with spaces for our information or items purchased on one of the tax free cards. That would have been good to know before we got here! It will be interesting when we get home to figure out how much we paid in VAT on the receipts which showed it!
Our WestJet Boeing 787-9, "Legend of Canada", C-GUDH, has arrived at the gate....biggest WestJet plane I've seen!
We're boarding right away.....sad to leave as it was a fabulous trip, but it will be good to get home, see family & friends (get ready for Folkfest), share some stories and see how our plants made out while we were gone!

Yes, the WJ- 787-9 is BIG, saw it in Calgary in February. Let us know about how it behaves, # of aisles & seats, problem with the large number of passengers is how to handle, pltus all the luggage(6 bags - of shoes for a week ! ), at the terminals. You are OK with 2 bags, except for the extra charges. Still raining every day here.
