Syvota For its Excellent Beaches
I found out about Syvota after a documentary on T.V last year and I was so impressed. Syvota was mainly the actual reason of this trip, but since we are not coming privately but along with a group of 48 other people the agent told us that it was impossible to book a hotel for the group in this high season.
So much beauty in such a small coastal settlement! Syvota is famous for its beautiful crystal turquoise waters and the beauty of nature that surrounds it.
Most of the beaches are within walking distance from the village and they are unbelievably many in this little paradise.
The seafront is full of restaurants mostly selling fish. They are expensive when it comes to fish like everywhere in Greece but prices are logical with the cooked meals and salads. I had a variety of fish meze and some ouzo at one of the restaurants in the beach front opposite the marina.
Seeing the beauty of the area I hurry to finish earlier and arrange to have a short tour. The owner of the restaurant calls Costa, a taxi driver in Syvota who is a friend of his and soon I am out along with two other ladies who want to follow.
Syvota is built in a small bay with many small islets around. Before 1950 Syvota was called Mourtos taken from the days of the Ottoman rule. The beauty is such that I wish I could spend a week here instead of 3 or 4 hours ! Of course it is a place that I will surely visit again and when I return I plan to spend at least a week to see every single cove. It is surely a 'must see' spot!

Popi, you are so lucky living in such a beautiful country. No matter what happens no one can take away the beauty of Greece. I'm glad they changed the name becasue in Spanish the name sounds like "Dead". It seem in quite a remote corner which is why it doesn't seem to be very developed, which of course makes it all the lovlier.
