Lunches and the Beautiful Coast

I thought to get down to the beautiful sandy beach for a swim before lunchtime . Yianni was not in the mood neither to follow me he said nor to swim this late hour with such heat. He prefers to wander about for a while and wait for me up in our room. How could I miss swimming this morning!!

As always, I waited for the last half hour to pack, so there was no time for me to get to the beach this morning before coming here. Sometimes it is so stupid of me to wait the very last hour to find and pack everything. Some friends at the beach where we meet every morning were telling me that when they have to leave for a trip they start packing a week before. They have the luggage open and keep adding. I do just the opposite. I wait for the last minute and pack only the necessary. My luggage is so light!

I climb down several steps to get to the beach. I can choose between two beaches but I chose the smallest one, the one I see from our balcony . I find several people swimming but I want peace and quiet especially the first hour so I just greet a few and I sheer off. I was swimming for more than an hour when two ladies at first joined me and later a gentleman who was their friend. They were telling me that they keep coming back to this hotel the last 10 years. The beach was very different some years back they told me with boats and beach bicycles all over. I am happy that there are neither boats nor anything else besides the beach umbrellas and beach beds and a few plastic chairs.

It must be more than 2 hours from the time I left Yianni and after 2 hours in the sea I am getting hungry. I climb up quickly the steps and get to the room for a refreshing shower before lunch. We come to the swimming pool area above the pool at the restaurant where we get a central table overlooking the beautiful swimming pool with the huge trees around. It is cool out here under the shade of trees and some umbrellas .

I notice some clouds in the sky far in the horizon, and I really would not mind if we have a shower in the afternoon. The time is 2.30 p.m and there are still people out swimming in the pool. The sun is burning hot and I wonder how ignorant some people can be. I see nobody wearing a hat!

Stelios and George are the two gentlemen who serve us lunch. If I had only one word to describe them, this would be 'professionalism'. The cuisine here is just as we expected it to be. It is traditional, and while on the premises we tried both fish and meat dishes accompanied by different salads along with some fine white wine having the name of the hotel on.
