METSOVO -What there is to See!

METSOVO , Ipeiros, Greece
I am giving below the "Must See" places to visit while in Metsovo
The Tositsa Museum
One who comes here should not miss visiting the Museum of the most prominent family of Metsovo which was for generations the most famous in the area . They lived and endured the arduous winters in style and I would have gladly visited the museum a second time if it was not closed. You see, we found it closed this second time but I am giving below the link that shows well what I am talking about. It is about my previous entry with the numerous photos I had taken back in 2009 when we visited Metsovo that year.

The beautiful mansion has carved woodwork, sumptuous colorful textiles and handcrafted furniture from the area.
To get there you have to follow up stone stairs to right off Tositsa main road. You can ask to be shown where it is before you start descending the road towards the central square.
The entrance fee is 3 euro, and visit hours by guided tour is possible every half an hour between May to October, Friday to Wednesday from 9 a .m to 1.30 p.m and 4:00 pm to 6:00 from November till April. 9:00 to 1.30 and 3:00 to 5:00p.m.
The Averoff Gallery
It is about a display of personal collection of intellectual art. The time here was so little that I only took photos from the exterior.
Greek artists whose pieces of art are found in the Museum are Alekos Fassianos and Nikos Ghikas.
There is a unique painting from what I have heard from Nikiforos Litra that shows the burning of the Turkish Flagship by Kanaris, a scene from a decisive battle that took place in Chios. Of course there are many more just as good pieces of art and I hope I will have the chance to visit it on a coming trip.
Ayia Paraskevi Church
Nobody can leave Metsovo without visiting the 18th century church of Ayia Paraskevi found in the main square. The saint's day is July 26 and a big celebration takes place throughout the village, while the church’s silver icon is carried around town in a morning procession followed by feasting and dancing.
Ayios Nikolaos Monastery (14th century)
It is just a 30-minute walk into the valley. The 18th century frescoes are created in Epirote style, and the two images of the Pantocrator (Godhead), one in each dome are really impressive as staring down on the congregation.
The Monastery is down into valley (follow signs near National Bank of Greece; turn left where paving ends).
The link below gives information on the personality of this great man.
