Mitos Restaurant and the Potamonde Baths & Spa.
I am exactly in the middle of this trip as from today and I am flying back to Athens a week from now
. Throughout the days that I am travelling I had the opportunity to spend some days with family members, see a few relatives and friends, include a new destination in my guide, make new friends and talk with different people I came across. I expect this week's trip to be just as interesting and I will try to include one or two new places once again. I am positive that you will continue this virtual trip with me and continue posting your comments. On my part I promise not to let you down.
Back in Greece, I pick the cities I want to visit and I make the bookings. I leave anything else as it comes while on the trip and at the same time try to be flexible. Most of the programming is mainly made while I am out walking or in bed, and here I am this morning making the plans of the day.
It is one of those mornings that I don’t want to get up early -after the good night’s sleep I had. Breakfast finishes at 10:00. I check the time and it is only 8:30 so there is still plenty of time
. I want to remain in the room if not in bed, have a shower and make some phone calls. Down the courtyard however I can hear people chatting and I can hear noise of cutlery. The next door couple climbs down the stairs for their breakfast, making me wonder if I will be the last one to get down when I am finally ready. I really cannot understand all this rush for some coffee especially when coffee/tea facilities are provided.
In leisurely pace I get down for breakfast twenty minutes after nine and guests are sitting in the courtyard having breakfast. There are one or two couples who came along with friends so these are the ones who make the noise. I get in the classy dining room where it is so cosy, comfortable and cool and I decide to have breakfast here instead of getting out with the rest. It is in this same dining room that we had dinner last night with Mary and Rob. They came all the way from Larnaca to dine with me. For the last 4 days we spent time together and it was fun and I want to believe we shall meet again soon
.
I have already made the plans of the day and I check with the reception if I can extend my stay in the room until early afternoon when I leave for Paphos. Costa –a cousin of mine will drive me there himself. He is actually going to drive me all the way to Latchi and not just Paphos. This means he will drive many extra miles before he returns to his village which is somewhere in the outskirts of Paphos. I would probably have cancelled my visit to Latchi if it wasn’t for Costa because I could not rely on buses today. I am beholden to him. It is advisable that tourists check the possible public holidays before making bookings if they plan to use public means of transport. I only found out about this long weekend holiday a few days before the trip.
I am ready for a stroll but the first thing I do before leaving the premises is to arrange my appointment for a Rasul mud steam bath. It is a treat for the guests and it is included in the price
. Mud treatments are supposed to purify the skin, remove toxins from the body and improve skin’s overall condition.
Jacqueline recommends a body massage as well and I only hope to spare the time for one before Costa shows up.
I am out for a short stroll and I come to the central square which is a few metres from the hotel. To my bad luck the whole square is under construction and the road is totally hollowed so for this reason I decide to take no pictures at all. The village is on a slope and I get to the highest point for some pictures. On the way I drop by a friend’s house who is an artist to find him busy painting some clouds on a wooden frame. Michali is happy to see me and he takes me indoors to show me his new creations. He is both excited but anxious the same time as he has to have everything ready in two weeks from today. His creations are to be exhibited in an Art Gallery in Nicosia then. We chat for a while and I decide to move on and leave him finish what he is working with. Michali is also a well known singer to Cypriots. (I have referred to this artist on previous entries).
The link includes information about the Municipality of Kalavassos and there are links with information about the history of the village, the works that are taking place and information of places of interest in the round area.

Tourists who want to visit Kalavassos by bus can find information through the link below. http://www.cyprusbybus.com/RouteDetails.aspx?id=143
The other alternative is to get the InterCityBus and get off at the Bus Station of Kofinou (Chirokitia) and from that point get the rural bus for the village or get a taxi. www.intercity-buses.com

By the way, the link to the bus schedules is amazing. What detail. Every bus stop is included. With this in hand it must be easy to get around by bus.

There are indeed detailed and they are printed in English as well. Otherwise, why would I bother using them!

The winters are mild I can say. There is rain, but when the rain stops the sun is out again and the temperature in the heart of winter can get to 4 degrees in Larnaca to take it as an example. In the mountains (Troodos) it can get to 2 degrees below zero in winter...This year in Greece for a week we had 5 degrees below zero.
