THE VILLAGE OF OREI

Orei, with only 1 .500 residents is another little fishing village very close to Neos Pyrgos with clear crystal waters and several taverns serving fresh fish by its picturesque harbour.

It also gets crowded like the rest of the coastal villages of Evia especially during summer.

We make a stop for some photos, but although there are some spots to be visited in the round are which I find on the map, it is not possible to do this today –perhaps we should come for a day or two on another trip!

WORTH SEEING:

-         The remains of the ancient citadel (mostly the fortification walls)

-         The Venetian and the Turkish Castles.

-         The Byzantine Church of Agios Vasilios. It has been built over an ancient temple.

-         The marble Bull, dating back to the 4th century.

HOW TO COME HERE: If you take the short distance from Chalkida through Limni is 135 kms.
