Prokopi, Central Greece, Greece

A GIFTED AREA!

As we approach Prokopi we make a stop for some photos .

It is a paradise-like spot only 59 km from Chalkida with 1000 residents. It is one of our favourite destinations and quite close to where we live.

The village is known widely as a spiritual pilgrimage and cultural destination of the Orthodox Greeks. It is the village where the relic of Agios Ioannis o Rossos (Saint John the Russian) is kept. The relic was brought over by refugees from Asia Minor.

The valley is so beautiful, hidden amongst pine and plane trees, the water never stops flowing, and the area is ideal for hiking and picnics. It is breathtaking no matter what season you choose to come here.

WORTH SEEING:

The Museum of Wooden Forest next to the school on the road Chalkis – Edipsos.

The huge plane tree outside the village. It is enormous with a perimeter of 30 m.
