                  PATRAS

We set off at 10am for Patras .

All people gathered even before the time set because they were excited. There is a smile on every face.

I am also looking forward for this trip and I am anxiously waiting to get on board the cruise ship and sail to Bari. I need this break!

Upon reaching the port most of the women went straight to the DUTY FREE shop.

REFUGEES ARE LIKE RATS HERE

We are ready to get on board the ship, and here we see the area is full of refugees coming from the east . They are scattered in the whole area where huge trucks are getting ready to get on board the ship. There is police in the area, but yet behind the trucks you can see them walking, running or threatening to hide in the trucks. These young poor people want to find refuge in other parts of Europe recently, because Greece is trying to catch them and send them away. They hide in trucks and get in the ships for Italy.

It is a huge problem for Patras, and not only for this area. These poor people most of them very young (17-30) have paid lots of money to the Turkish people, who carry them to the Greek coasts and leave them in the waters.

As soon as the Greek harbour authorities notice such a boat out at the Greek coast they try to chase them away .

Well, it is here that these men all FALL IN the sea. The Greek authorities then go out to rescue them and carry them on land. So these poor people get advantage of this, and they stay in Greece and try to find a job. The result is that we have so many refugees coming to Greece the last couple of years that it has become a huge problem.

Anyway, we get on board the ship an hour later and we get straight to our cabin. It is small, but clean and cute.

I have a quick shower and I am out on the deck to get some pictures and meet the rest of the group .

We chat a lot and start telling jokes.

Later at night I want to get access on the internet but there is no way. I am very angry and sad as I cannot read my e mails.

11.30pm we decide to get some sleep. It will be a difficult day tomorrow with lots of driving and besides I feel cold because the aircondition is quite high.

The sea is calm and thankfully I have a good sleep.

How sad...
What a sad story you tell about the refugees. Do you think that many of them drown in the sea like that?
