A DAY OUT IN VENICE

          Venice

We are supposed to spend the whole day in Venice today, but I don't feel well at all .

I’ve got a stomach ache, and I cannot have anything to eat. I am not sure if it is a good idea to leave the hotel, or stay indoors until I get well.

I get down the breakfast room and I feel so bad seeing everyone being happy, and looking forward for this day trip.

To be honest, I would have stayed indoors if it wasn’t for the photos that I want so much to take. The day is still cloudy, after the rain storm last night and it is cold outside.

I decide to leave the hotel, but any time that I get worse, get the boat and return to the hotel by myself.

On the Island.

The tour guide wants to explain in detail everything, but some people from the group are desperate. What they really want is to leave the guide and run to the shops. They think that the time given is not enough ! He insists that he tells everything and he even gets a bit angry . He wants to show us everything, and leave the glass factory last. Honestly speaking I can guess the reason why.

He will stay there until the last person leaves the factory and then gets his commission. There is nothing wrong with it, and I have no hard feelings about it, but the others cannot understand this.

The Glass Factory.

We come to the factory, and we are given a small idea of how they give shape to everything.

I remember the previous time we were here some years ago, we spent at least 20 minutes with this guy who gives shape to glass.

Now what we are given is just 5 or 6 minutes, and off we go to the show room. They are in such a hurry, probably because another group is soon to be visiting them.

Every item in there has two prices to catch the consumers eyes . It is supposed to be half price when buying from the factory. So somebody would think that this is the opportunity to buy half price. In reality, the price is the same as in all shops in the area.

Anyway, all people were buying and buying, and I thought how happy the tour guide would be.

We leave the factory without buying anything, and go to a nearby restaurant for lunch. 45 minutes later, the first couple comes out of the factory and enters the restaurant which is just next to it. Soon another and another couple, joins us, and in the end I am told that it is in that factory that they spent most of their money.

I heard of different amounts, starting from 200 euros up to 650 for each couple.

By noon, I feel much better, have no stomach ache, and enjoy being out there taking many photos. I walk and walk till the rest finish shopping .

Return to the hotel

We return to the hotel late in the afternoon, but after shower I see that I am not well at all. I don’t go down for dinner, but a tray with some very salty chicken dish is brought up to me. Of course I cannot eat that thing! I have a kind of high temperature, and my bones hurt. I start thinking that I might have caught the pigs disease and I am so worried. - luckily I don’t have the cough, otherwise I would have been sure that I would need to be carried to hospital!

The worst of all is that we are given a suit in this last hotel. It is a huge room and very nice, but I am not in any good mood to enjoy it, just feel miserable and worried about the sailing trip which is tomorrow.
