4th Day - SAILING TO BODRUM or ALIKARNASOSOur ship -MARIA- leaves the port at 9 .15 sharp.We are sailing for 50 minutes before reaching the port. The sea is calm today and the trip is enjoyable. The funny thing was that we were told that the trip to Bodrum costs 25 euro a person -two way ticket- , but we got ours for just 39 euro.The best way is to go directly to the ship and ask for the cost instead of booking through hotels or travel agents. I noticed that many of the travelers got different prices for this trip. - It seems that they liked us !!?This time we did not choose a speed ferry. We thought it is not worth it since the weather is good, no wind and we want to enjoy most of the trip on board. Besides it is so nice getting a seat up the deck and enjoy the sun and the fresh sea breeze covering our whole body!With just 39 euro the two of us, can visit a new destination again today and this makes us feel great.Bodrum is the Turkish name of Alikarnasos, once belonged to Greece. Greeks had to leave behind their belongings - businesses, houses, - and flee to other countries to be saved after the Turkish persecution in 1922 . (My grandfather was one of them who left behind everything and went to the Island of Cyprus in a boat to be saved. His brother got in another boat for Greece, and they had never seen each other after that day).The people in Bodrum and the people from Kos have a friendly cooperation in tourism, and both ports are full of sailing boats coming and going to both directions. Both communities share friendly feelings towards each other.THE VIEWThe view from the sailing boat both when leaving Kos and when reaching Bodrum is incredible! Upon reaching the port in Turkey and after the security check, we have a tour around the city which lasts for an hour.Because there were no other Greeks on the cruise today, we have a Greek speaking tour guide just for the two of us. The rest of the group are Germans and there is another tour guide who explains everything in German.We are given the two seats just next to the driver infront, our guide is standing just behind us, and the rest of the group are sitting behind us with their leader speaking in German . All this in the same small coach. EVERYTHING we saw belonged to Greeks going back to the times of Alexander the Great. A very nice archeological theatre we saw was built in the year of 500 BC.By the time the tour is over we have become friends with our tour guide whose name is Zinet. She comes from Kos but she is half Turk and half Greek, with a Greek nationality. We ask her to recommend a nice place to eat something originally Turkish, and she suggests the same retaurant as the woman at the reception.The restaurant is well known in Bodrum and it's called BABADAN.We enjoy lunch with Zinet and we say goodbye to each other before sailing back to Kos.  - I had my cup of Turkish coffee turned, and she told me what she saw in the cup concerning my life.......many trips was one of them!!!   We are impressed by the Turkish people, the nice roads and nice buildings.For the Turkish people Bodrum is something like MYKONOS. Unfortunately we have not much time to visit the Castle with the Museum.....but probably another time we will.We left with the best impressions and Zinet our tour leader played an important role to this. I however have to admit that I expected Bodrum to be much cheaper than Kos, but I was wrong. Even the food is expensive here, and the souvenirs and everything have the same price as in Greece.
