The Perama cave was discovered by accident in 1940 during the World War II, as the inhabitants of the village were trying to find a shelter against bombardments

STALACTITES IN A HUGE ROOM

. At the end of the war Constantine Kasvikis, a gymnast and an amateur speleologist, found himself in Perama where, with his team, he took pictures that were published in the local press of Athens.

Thusly Ioannis and Anna Petrochilou found out about the cave, visit Perama and began systematic exploration and mapping of the cave in order to be developed as a tourist attraction.

Where it is situated.

Situated next to the picturesque lake of Ioannina, it is extremely interesting and worth visiting.

It is the most important natural ecosystem.

In there you can see the emergence of the stalactite.

THE CAVE

It is one of the rarest caves in the world

THE STALACTITES

. It is located only 4 kilometres away from the city, in Perama of Ioannina.

The cave occupies an area of 14.800 sq.m.

The tourist route is initially downhill and at the end it is uphill. One thousand metres in total.

A tourist can visit the cave daily at 8'oclock in the morning until sunset. The entrance of the tourist groups takes place every 10 minutes.

The fee to enter is 6 euros.
