Kymi, Euboea (Evia), Greece

A Short Afternoon trip to Kymi

Kymi is a maritime city, located at the middle of the east side of Evia .
The view of the city, the sea and mountains is breathtaking.

It used to be a very prosperous city in the old times. Many of the locals were ship-owners who travelled throughout Europe carrying red wine to ports like Marseilles in France. This wine was used by the French to colour their own wines….isn't this weird?

Characteristic of the local architecture are the neoclassical houses of ship owners of earlier times. Artistic ironwork on balconies, corbels on the underside of balconies and inscriptions.

From here one can sail to the islands of Skyros, Skopelos and Alonysos.

There just seems to be no end of beautiful places to visit and wonderful vistas in Greece, and most of them unknown to overseas tourists.
