Narrow-Knit Lacing:

 
Domestic Handicraft was and still is flourishing in this beautiful village of Omodos .

Several women are occupied with handmade embroideries from brocades, tableclothes threaded quilts and Chantilly laces.

 
Being just for two nights here, I missed visiting
the Handicraft Centre this time but definitely I won't when I am back again probably in spring. 

 
During my strolls I enjoyed the village's beauty, as I wandered around the narrow alleys with the small gardens filled with colour flowerpots.

What I came across instead, were respectful elderly women working on their narrow-knit laces. I liked chatting with them a lot.

I found them sitting outside their little shops or by the entrance of their houses.  They are kind and loveable and they enjoy chatting with tourists, showing with pride their work and expect a nice word in return I am sure . 

Usually, the first question you will be asked is where you come from and the next they are curious to know if you stay in the village and where. 


Their work needs much patience and the result is remarkable.


Be sure to spare some cash for a souvenir or two. 

Homemade Lace is always a precious gift not only to ourselves but to friends and family members who will be thrilled.
