Limassol, Cyprus
After a great night's sleep and a Jacuzzi that lasts for more than an hour I am ready for breakfast . I am already delayed and by the time I open the door I find a vase with some beautiful pink roses accompanied by a card. What a nice gesture and treat to start a beautiful day!
Breakfast is a feast here just as I expected it. There are all sorts of goodies for every taste! I have the chance if I prefer to sit outside in the beautiful tropical gardens but I decide to get a seat inside as it is cool and beautiful here. The place is huge, and it is as if there are several rooms in one with many columns. There is a wall at the back with running water coming from the very top down to the floor, the central buffet has 3 huge elephant tusks and it is so beautifully decorated with the different dishes. The staff wears colorful shirts with exotic designs on, giving you the impression that you are somewhere in Hawaii or Bali. They truly seem very professional, so helpful and always ready to help. The funny thing is they appear out of nowhere the right moment you need them .
Ok, time for breakfast and of course what I am after is a nice savory omelette fresh salmon, mushrooms, some fresh orange juice and a strong coffee. All these will do. I need nothing else and I don’t touch any cakes, shortbreads or biscuits no matter how wonderful or tasty they are. Of course I love cheese and there are so many different kinds to choose from….but the calories always count. I get one or two small pieces without feeling guilty at all because I will be out walking the whole morning until lunch time.
My plans are to walk to the opposite direction this time away from the city. I am taking the beach path and I will try to get even further than the ruins of Amathounta. A lovely morning, no work or meetings, and I plan to enjoy it. It is not early at all and by the time I am outside by the beach it is hard to find an empty sun bed and an umbrella. There is a beach boy however who offers to find one for me and when he does, he tells me that it is the very last one. It is actually one sun bed under an umbrella which I have to share because on the other side there is a Russian guy busily reading a guide book. I greet the guy and I place the towel and my bag on the sun bed and leave. My priority is walking first.
Never have I walked on this direction before and of course I wear a hat and my sun glasses, I carry a bottle of cold water along and I wear protective sun lotion so surely I have taken the necessary precautions . The stroll is pleasant and quite interesting and there are many other people doing just the same. When I come to the marina after about 4 or 5 Km, I decide to go no further because I want to swim before lunch so I need to be back on time.
By the time I return there are many vacant seats. It seems that guests have gone for their lunch. It is pity that I don’t have time to rest at all not even enjoy a few minutes under the shade of my umbrella. I get in the water without losing more time and swim for an hour enjoying the beautiful coast and the crystal water. Here again I chat with lots of other guests, most of them are repeaters and I envy them. They speak highly of the hotel and we exchange views and share tips. I hate the fact that I have to leave the beach and get to the restaurant. In reality I am not really hungry and I can do without lunch till evening, but I am curious to see what the buffet is like today. As I walk by the beach bar I stop to say hi to the guys there who offer me a huge glass of refreshing fruit cocktail. It is really what I needed the right moment.

Wow! Lucky you! Four Seasons!! Any idea what the room rate is for the rest of us?
Interesting about saving your deckchair. I worked in Sandals Resorts and they do not allow pool or beach chairs to be saved. Too many people got up early in the morning, dumped towels and books on deckchairs, then went back to bed, After breakfast, at around 10 they went down to claim their chairs. One man made such a fuss Sandals decided to disallow this practice. The man from Yorkshire threw the towels and books on the ground (he was tempted to throw them in the pool, but was dissuaded by staff) claiming "Where I come from, its bums not books that count"! Well said, say I.
