Saturday, day 5

Yuma, Tennessee, United States
Getting up at 6:30 wasn't difficult after spending the night with Joe and Vicki Harris in Woodbury. They had coffee on and Joe made a batch of pancakes and sausage which hit the spot. Because we didn't camp, loading the vehicle was a snap. After handshakes, hugs and a couple quick photos we hit the road again, heading west. This is day 3 in Tennessee and the weather is just too good to travel very far. We easily drove through Murfreesboro and found Tennessee highway 840, a bypass, which skirted around Nashville and much less traffic. The only interesting thing was that the road only opened less than a year ago and our GPS (we've named Bertha) had no idea where we were. We had planned to take Natchez Trace and take in the views, but decided to pull over early and relax and enjoy the weather (perfect) blossoming trees. Today was the first day for shorts (camo with cargo pockets of course) and sandals (Jesus sneakers). I only hope others at the rest area I changed at had their strongest sunglasses on as I bared my Maine winter white legs to the outside world.
We stopped at a Travel Info place which was mostly about the Civil War Shiloh Battle and found an RV park close by . It listed pull through spots, store, showers/bathrooms, cable TV, Wifi for $28 dollars. As we were registering he knocked off another few dollars because our "RV" didn't have any or multiple Air Conditioners. Gotta like that! It really is a nice place and the owner stopped by and even offered a vacant cabin! We elected to stay in our "RV". Such nice people.
Tonight is our first cooking "attempt" with our Cuisinart grill I found last summer at the Pemaquid Lake Campground after someone had discarded it. I refurbished it and had fired it up several times. It worked fine, and tonight was its maiden voyage for us. We picked up some chicken, pork chops, and zucchini from, you guessed it, Walmart.
The evening meal was absolutely superb and we have enough left over for another meal tomorrow night. As we near sunset the temperature is dropping. Looking up to the thermometer the mercury is right at 70. Perfect.
After supper we took a walk around the campground and Dolly spotted a porch swing on a dock on a small man-made lake. It didn't take her long to stretch out and totally relax.
Just after climbing in bed, another RVer pulled in to the empty spot beside us. Our killer Chihuahua is very protective of us and wherever we are and let them know she was on duty. It took a little while to get to sleep, but that's all part of the great outdoors and camping experience. Up at 6 am, 42 degrees and bacon and eggs are on the menu.
   Happy Easter!
