Tucumcari to Albuquerque - sandblasted

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
It is my (Dolly) turn to write on this here blog. When finding a place to stay for the night, to me it is all about the bathrooms. Jan saying the last place we stayed at the AOK campground in Tucumcari, was beyond it's prime, is quite the understatement. The bathroom was room #4. (They also have apartments there). Seeing the bright pink door was scary. The bathroom was just 1 toilet, sink and shower. Plywood was covering the window. It always took 2 flushes just to flush the toilet no matter what you did. When we went to sleep that night I made Jan keep his pocket knife with him. Scared, you betcha.
Just so you know, I am not the only one that thinks it is all about the bathroom . Chi Chi is having a difficult time with it all. The poor little doggy hunts an hunts around for the perfect spot to go. She wants grass not dirt. When she finds that 1 piece of grass sticking up she finally goes.
After we left there, we drove around the town and took photos of the painted murals. It was some amazing work. Driving across to Albuquerque we stopped at several places along the way, nothing that exciting, but it helps break up the drive. We stayed at Kirtland AFB. The wind was blowing terribly so we sat in the front of the truck for hours and talked about the cold and wind, and had a supper of salami and cheese. It was one of the most enjoyable evenings we have had.
