More sand, wind and cold

Holbrook, Arizona, United States
We were up early and out of the gate from Kirtland AFB to McDonald's for our morning coffee, oatmeal and breakfast burrito. Since Kirtland didn't have a working Wifi, Dolly posted the previous day's activities from there.
After the post we hit the road again west on Interstate 40 . We had travelled a few miles and Dolly wanted to stop at an Indian art shop. We were both impressed with the quality of the art and gifts in the shop and Dolly purchased a pair of earrings.
Down the road again and we stopped by the Visitor Center of the Petrified Forest National Park. It was well done and very informative. We didn't do the entire park, opting for a northern loop. I was relatively low on gas and didn't want to get caught in no man's land and run out of gas. The loop was very similar to the South Dakota Badlands, and was fun.
After getting gas (the first station we went by the price was $3.99, and I felt a tightening in my chest...here they sell two kinds of gas - straight gas and gas like I'm used to with 10% ethenol.) The gas cut with alcohol is in the $3.39 range and I was able to calm a bit.
When we crossed into Arizona we went on Arizona time - which is still Mountain Time, but they don't turn their clocks forward for Daylight Savings Time. So actually we are 3 hours behind Maine and on the same clock settings as Dolly's daughter in California.
Next into Holbrook at the OK RV park. Nice place (for Arizona). It was just the wind and blowing dust. We turned in early and up early this morning.
All for now - next Phoenix!
