Black Canyon KOA, Arizona, United States
After a wonderful visit with Cheryl and Mike Kobel, we headed into the Phoenix Metro area to search out a "find" Dolly spotted on line. For those of you who know her, she's into beads and a downright SUPER earring maker (check out her facebook page). We wound our way down the 303, onto I-10 and across the lower part of the city to Tempe. Old Bertha (our GPS) took us to the bead store without a hitch. Beads Galore is a huge bead outlet with about 6,500 square feet of beads. To put this into perspective, this bead store is 5 times larger than our house. While beading isn't my cup of tea, Chi-Chi and I roamed the area in the shade while Dolly drooled, wished and finally bought what she needed to sustain her for a while.
After the bead store, we found our way back to I-17 and headed north out of Phoenix . We stopped overnight at a KOA at Black Canyon, AZ and set up, had our evening meal (Turkey burgers and sauerkraut - remember we're on a low carb diet).
We had some interesting neighbors at this campground. Two guys had a fairly large tent set up and by the looks of it, were on the long-term plan. Evidently they like beer and watched Championship Poker on the computer all day.
After eating and cleaning up, we set out on a photo safari within the campground. Wow, what a treasure trove of photo ops. Dolly's hip started bothering her so she headed back to the camp a little early. When she got back, she found that a feral cat had finished Chi-Chi's supper and was just leaving when she arrived. I shared some of Dolly's photos today on FB, those that I took will be attached to this. I hope.
Several of the photos that I wanted to include just didn't make it as they are tied up in a connection and download between my phone and my photos on the computer. I'll add them later. Either I need to be smarter about this stuff or you'll have to be VERY patient. I vote for you to be patient.
Right now, its about 7:30 pm and I'm about a day late in putting this blog together Let's just say it was one internet and connection disaster after another all day. Usually I try to post in the morning, when we can...but not today. It just didn't work. I'll do today's post tomorrow morning. Confusing? I'm sure it is. Hang with us.

Love you.

Cheers

Thoroughly enjoying this ride-along on your trip! Caught up on your travel blog tonight…loving the photos from along the way, Jan and Dolly. Hope you are enjoying the drive as much as I am! ;) Oh…by the way…gas is considerably higher than $4 per gallon in California. Thought you needed some warning before you make it out here to the west coast! Happy trails to you! ;)
