McKinleyville, California, United States
Our third day in McKinleyville, CA; Katie and Luke (Katie's boyfriend/room mate) are finishing up finals so we kept ourselves rather scarce so as not to be a bigger study diversion than we already are.
We took a couple of short trips to local wildlife refuges and the Pacific Ocean - this area really is beautiful and so full of interesting sights, sounds, smells and wildlife .
The weather has been perfect, highs in the 70's and lows in the upper 40's. Great sleeping weather and we've regularly been getting about 9 to 10 hours a night. We visited the Arcata Wildlife Refuge, a large community-developed area for locals to enjoy with wonderful walking/jogging trails and occasional signs to explain the flora and fauna. Our visit to Clam Beach was especially fun where we were nearly the only people on the huge beach and we let the dogs run. Kona loved retrieving a stick that Luke threw into the surf - Chi Chi wanted no part of it and high tailed it out of the icy cold Pacific Ocean.
I won't spend much time on words, let me get some photos posted...
