Cape Town, South Africa
Early rise after a reasonable nights sleep had a great breakfast at the hotel, then we all met in in the lobby to start a half day tour of Capetown which included Table Mountain. The bus took us up to the bottom of the Mountain and there I saw the longest queue of people I have ever seen waiting to get on the two cable cars that were going up and down the mountain. I suppose we waited 2 hours to get into a cable car. But it was a chance to catch up with some of my fellow travelers and have a yarn. Most of the the tour group came from NZ but there was some from England and USA.The couple from the USA were very hard to get into a conversion except when the male was not there and the female would open up and talk until the male came back.In this group was a couple from Te Awamutu NZ who played bowls with my brother back in NZ.The cable car rotated around as we went up the side of the hill which gave a chance to see in different directions as there was approx. 50 people in the car. A very tourist place really with hundreds of people milling around.Up there you got a good view of Capetown Harbour. It was a very hot day so the best place to cool off was of coarse the bar went in with John and Sherrie who I meet up several times during the tour. Beer was cheap in South Africa
In the afternoon the group went to the Springbok Museum which was very interesting very well set up we had a guide from the Museum show us around but unfortunately the group was too large 48-49 people and the noise level was too high to be able to hear what he was saying some of the time. but the museum was very well set out.
That evening we had a Group dinner at the hotel we were at which went off very well.Great meal
