Croatia - we bused from Zagreb to Rijeka, love this port town! Then a bus to the seashore . Caught a ferry to the Island Cres. We got off the ferry and walked into town. Walked up and down the street a few times then decided to knock on a Sobe door and find out if they were renting any rooms. We SCORED on a room right over the water!!! See photos below. This quiet little island is what we needed after big cities and busy time with friends and family in Petrinja.

Still on the Island Cres. Started our day yesterday with a "Skype visit" with daughter Jessica all the way from Maui and a whole 12 hour time zone behind us. So fun to be able to show her our Sobe and the views out our windows and we could see her and our grand-dog Joci :)

Very active and adventurous day on Wednesday. We hiked in the pine forest and ancient old growth olive orchards dating to the 18 century surrounded by many stone walls. Just think if those old trees could talk. We went up and over a few mountains to a little town called Valun, an old stone town clinging to the cliffs above the Adriatic Sea. Crazy day. Saw Big Horn Sheep on the cliffs, got up close for some good photos, way cool outdoor day! Totally by ourselves. Did not see another human until we got to the town. Once there, though pretty tired we had to take 328 stairs down to the town along the water. Did 14 miles or 22.4 km of tough trails, loved it of course and love Cres. It started pouring rain on our way back so we worked our way to a paved road and hitch-hiked back to town. Otherwise it would have been a very wet additional 8 more miles :) Nice man, no English spoken but we gave him some Kuna's for his trouble. 

Heading today to Rovinj Croatia along the Istria Coast of the Adriatic Sea. One of Mikes favorite places we visited in 2008. We leave Cres by ferry this morning. We just love Croatia too much to leave yet!!
