A day in Trieste Italy - along the Gulf of Venice

We left Rovinj Croatia by bus on Monday early morning and arrived in Trieste Italy a few hours later . Looked over our options to get to Cinque Terra and decided, yes because we are cheap, that what the heck, if we take a night train to Cinque Terra it will save us a room fee for the night and the night train was like half the cost of one that would have got us there during the day. Of course the day train would get us there in about 7 hours instead of our "so fun eventful night train that has four changes and 12 hours in total time". But remember, we saved money so it's always worth it. We pride ourselves on doing these trips on the cheap, well maybe sometimes we are proud of ourselves!

Like Mike always like to say, it all just makes MORE memories!

So we bought tickets for the train that would leave Trieste Italy at 10pm, took our backpacks to the luggage hold....and for 6 Euro (yes expensive!) they held the two backpacks until they close at 6 pm. I can't believe such early closing hours when trains are leaving at all hours of the night but oh well, at least we could spend the day with out lugging them around on our backs.

So off we go to spend the rest of the day in an Italian city along the Adriatic Sea shore in the Gulf of Venice. We had fun, walked all over and discovered many pretty sights and Mike had his first Italian birra (beer). Went and retrieved our backpacks then off to the centrale piazza to find a restaurant. Had a great dinner and then back to the train station to board our train for the 10PM departure.
