On our way to Munich our Busabout guide told us about a pub crawl we could sign up for that night.
Why not?
On arrival we scored a private room (yeah!) in Wombats Munich . The story behind the name is a couple of Germans who travelled extensively in Australia met a fellow who had quite a few wombats as pets and he was going to open a hostel in Oz called wombats. He died soon after they met him and when they got back to Germany they followed through with his idea and opened hostels in Vienna and Munich. 

After a quick meal we arrived at the designated meeting place and as we did so it bucketed down with rain. Being that we were to walk between the beer halls and pubs this put a few of the starters off straight away. We soldiered on having an absolute ball! At the end of the night I was presented with the award for best female drinker on the grounds I had consumed a lot but was still standing and coherent. My trick was that Avan and I were sharing beer steins and shooters hence it looked like I was drinking more than I was!

The next day was reserved for handovers however we did get the laundry done and had haircuts, so not a complete loss . 
 
An amazing spectacle presented itself in the English gardens the next day where we found surfers in full wet suit gear and Aussie surfboards, surfing a back to front wave created on a canal. It had to be seen to be believed but there is a photo attached to give you an idea.

Another important visit we did from Munich was to Dachu concentration camp. This camp was quite different to Auschwitz in that it was the first created back in the 30's and initially housed political prisoners (those that opposed the Third Reicht). It developed into a work camp then a transfer place for those on their way to death at Auschwitz. These camps are such disturbing and moving places to visit and this time I took no photos. There is a saying that those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it and it is alarming that even while we were in Munich, there was a march by the young neo nazis to celebrate Rudolph Heiss's birthday.

Next we move on to Venice via the Tyrol Region of Austria.
