We are never ones for major highways . They are boring, rushed and are only for getting from A to B quickly. We have six days to get from Brisbane to Sydney, from where we take our second cruise to the Pacific Islands, so we set off to meander on some scenic roads and to find some of the UNESCO World Heritage Parks noted under the listing of Goodwana Rainforests of Australia.

We actually had one day less than planned, because on the way back from our PNG cruise, two passengers were taken very ill and had to be evacuated to Mackay in QLD. This meant the cruise ship had to go inside the reef to do this then back out again. An announcement was made that we were to have another 24 hours at sea for no cost - fine by us! It was difficult for some who had flights booked but we were all given free internet and phone calls to make our arrangements.

Reunited with our camper, we set off and were quickly back in the swing of camping again staying at lesser known places and exploring small towns. 

Our best camp was at Barrington Tops National Park after we had spent the day driving through the Guy Fawkes River National Park and then Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. We negotiated impossibly narrow and windy roads mostly without guard rails and that took us through stunning untouched rainforests. 

We took a self-guided interpretive hike the next day, before winding our way down from the mountains and heading through the Hunter Valley to Mr White some 80 kilometres North of Sydney where we had made an arrangement with a friend to leave our camper while on the South Pacific Cruise.
