Noumea Port of Call

Noumea, Grand Terre, New Caledonia
Went on a 2 week cruise with 2 of my nursing friends - Mary Canon & Anita Hills & a school friend - Liz Cooper. Liz was at uni & we nurses had just finished the 2nd year of our training at the PA hospital in Brisbane. We were on the P& O Oriana which had 1700 passengers & 700 crew. It was retired in 1986

Our cabin the 4 of us shared was very small & cramped but we were rarely there so it didn't matter. We were at the bottom of the ship & I remember walking so many steps !!!

The food was great & meal times lots of fun as you sat net to the same people each meal. I don't think we ever made breakfast, but got up in time for lunch.

Our day stop in Noumea was lots of fun. They spoke French & it wasn't cheap. We checked out some beaches & hired motorised bicycles with the group of people we had been hanging out with on the ship & had a lot of fun riding around
