Our last day in Ho Chi Minh. We finished our packing and rang reception to come and get our bags. They sent up housekeeping as well to do a final check. We watched as he counted plates and glasses. As he finished he asked where two missing coat hangers from Linda's room were. She had put them in a different wardrobe as she wanted extra length to hang a couple of dresses. Once that was cleared up we were allowed to go and finalise our bill! We left our cases with them and headed of to do last minute shopping. Our location in District 3 has been really good. We are only a 20 minute walk from the main areas.
We booked a massage for the afternoon at 118 Pasteur
. After a bit of shopping we went for lunch at Cosmos Cafe. It was a shady spot to have my last feed of spring rolls, before heading out into the streets for the last time.
We were a little bit late for the massage so they started Linda and Clare on their manicures and Judy and I went up to have our massages. It was lovely, with hots rocks, and very relaxing. We heard the other girls come up giggling, apparently they had been surprised by a man standing in his undies when they were shown into the changing room.
The manicure was not great, but it was nice to sit and be pampered a bit longer, enjoying the after effects of the massage. Once the other girls came out we jumped into a taxi and headed back to the hotel. We had showers in the pool area and then started the repacking process. They gave us some scales to weigh our suitcases. Linda and Clare threw a few things away, and we all adjusted our hand luggage/ suitcase arrangements to come in at 20 kgs each.
Our taxi driver was the worst we had had in Vietnam. He drove at a rapid pace, yelling at other drivers. When we got to the airport I was dithering over the correct money and then he started yelling at me for not paying the toll (which he had not told us about). I got cranky with him and he enlisted a poor young man to get involved in the argument. He wanted nothing to do with it, so I paid the correct money, no tip for yelling at me!
It took quite a while to get through the customs lines. We had time for a delicious dinner before boarding our plane to Singapore.
