Exploring the city

Singapore, Singapore
Ken woke us all this morning and as a result there was a bit of grumpiness in the air. We met down at breakfast, quite a nice spread. Talia is not a morning person and doesnt eat breakfast so she was a barrel of laughs.
The breakfast area is quite nice, with an al fresco section surrounded by lush green gardens .
The girls are having trouble with their air conditioner so we all tried to reset it and we will see what happens later. The hotel is nice, but the rooms are very small, particularly the bathrooms. There are no complimentary products, apart from hand wash and a body wash/shampoo dispenser, ours is broken. The free wi-fi is good.
We set out towards Marina Bay, admiring the architecture and gardens along the way. It was quiet out this morning. We walked around the river near the Fullerton and then made our way to the Marina Bay and ended up in the shopping centre. We really wanted a coffee, but ended up in TWG for a fancy tea experience. Larissa and I had Tea shakes made with tea ice cream. Talia had a Pink Beauty and Ken had iced tea. All very good and refreshing.
We decided to head to Orchard Street. The girls were keen to see the shopping area. We caught the MRT, so clean and efficient, and got off at Dhoby Ghaut. We should have got onto a connecting MRT and got off at Orchard, but it looked like a short enough walk . It was - if you went in the right direction. We walked until Orchard turned into Bras Basah and turned around.
We wandered around a few of the centres. They were packed. So many people on a Sunday in Singapore. It was a bit overwhelming - so many people, so many shops. Talia was excited to spend time in Sephora, but decided to save her money for New York. Ken went to check out the Kinokuniya Book Store and was the only one to buy anything.
We caught a taxi home, cheaper than the MRT for 4 of us.
The girls' air conditioner in their room is it was freezing and wouldn't adjust. An engineer came and "fixed" it and said to see how it went.
Time to check out the pool. Ken bought some drinks from a 711 and we sat around the jacuzzi and relaxed. There is no bar service at the pool. It is on the roof top and quite lovely, with gardens separating the seating areas. There is an infinity pool, facing the garden area so you can see into the pool, which is a beautiful blue. We got into trouble for having glass by the pool, apart from that all good .
Back in our rooms, the air conditioner still no good, so they moved the girls into another room. Larissa was not impressed with this, but moved with a little "Larissa Attitude" into the room on the other side of us.
This morning I found my towel had a big shredded hole in it, so threw it on the floor to get a new one. When I showered in the afternoon I found the same towel!! Not impressed. Ken rang for some new ones and a lovely lady delivered them.
We walked to Clarke Quay for dinner. There are heaps of restaurants there and we ended up at Hutung and enjoyed a great Chinese meal. Talia had her first Singapore Sling.
Now all worn out after a big day of walking and very little sleep we walked home via a 711 so the girls could get some shampoo and conditioner. Home to bed and the promise of a sleep in for Talia.

I am using the Health app on my phone to count steps. It gives a lower reading than Talia's and may not be completely accurate, but gives us an answer to our sore feet.
20,813 steps, 14.8kms.....ouch!
