Change of Hotel

Singapore, Singapore
After a good night's sleep in our very comfortable Hilton rooms we met in the downstairs breakfast buffet. We needed to be back to move hotels after lunch so decided hitting the street and the shops was the itinerary for the morning.
Out the door and onto Orchard Road, we didn't need to go far to find shops, shops and even more shops. We wandered between different centres. No one bought too much, but it was great to see such enormous complexes.
For lunch we went into a food hall downstairs at ION Orchard. It took a while to make choices. Ali had a smoothie and the rest of us shared some yum cha dumplings. They were really good.
Lana contacted the Mandarin and they arranged to meet us at the Hilton at 3pm. We packed up our bags and a car arrived to pick us up. Ali and I went first (only one car) and were met at the Mandarin by the lovely duty manager, Wilmur. He had been at the hotel until 3.30 the night before waiting for guests to arrive and shipping them off to the Hilton. As promised he has arranged for us to have Club Room access, giving us breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks every day. He showed us the two rooms and Ali inspected them thoroughly to make sure we had the best one! They are pretty similar. He then escorted us to the Club Room to show us around there. It is at the top of the building and has 360 degree views. It was once a revolving restaurant. It is very nice and will make up for the inconvenience we suffered last night! He left us there and went to meet the other girls.
The girls finally joined us and we enjoyed afternoon tea with beautiful little cakes and treats. Nice.
After unpacking and settling in I met Dee and Lana back upstairs for drinks. Ali is staying in tonight to rest her injured back. The canapés and champagne were delicious and we were very comfortable. After a few drinks and many laughs we decided we should head out. We found the MRT and headed towards Marina Bay. It was a beautiful balmy night and lovely walking around the city. The buildings are so pretty. We had a quick look in the Marina Bay Shopping Centre to cool Dee, who is not a fan of the humidity, before heading out to watch the laser show. We didn't have the best of spots, but it was good to see.
Heading home we hopped on the wrong line and so took two trains instead of one to get home, but we had a good look at the system! Because we had gone too far our tickets were a bit short. Lana somehow just walked through and so Dee thought she would do the same and nearly bowled over some poor young man using his ticket to legitimately go in. I went to the nice man at the window and paid my extra 10c.
Ben and Jerry's were closed when we went to buy dessert, so we popped into the 711 and bought some Horgan Vaaz.
Back to our room Ali was awake as she couldn't work out how to turn out the lights. I was sure I could and went through the same process she had and ended up turning lamps off at the wall. Then Ali decided we should leave the bathroom light on and I jumped up and immediately walked into the corner of a wall, swore loudly and we both went off to sleep laughing. (We haven't shared a room since we were in boarding school at the age of 15.) A good day with a lot of laughs.
