Today we decided that we would do some exploring of the city. We caught the MRT to Raffles Place and walked to the Fullerton Hotel where we admired the gorgeous architecture of the once Post Office building. We crossed the Cavanagh Bridge and walked along the Esplanade path. Unfortunately they are doing some work here so it was not the usual pretty garden. There is a new pedestrian bridge which takes you from the Theatres to the Merlion. We crossed and took photos across the water to the Marina Bay, before heading over there to check out the shopping centre.
Next stop was up to the bar at Ku De Ta for a drink looking over the city. It was a lovely view and a refreshing drink.
After a look around we had coffee and cake downstairs and caught a taxi out to Haji Lane in the Arab Quarter. This is a great stretch of small shops with interesting clothes, jewellery and knickknacks. Lana and Dee were soon hot and bothered and headed into a bar for a beer but Ali and I kept up the pace and had a good look in most of the shops and even managed to buy a few bits and pieces.
We caught a taxi back to the hotel for afternoon tea in the club room, which soon turned into drinks with delicious nibblies. The staff are lovely and happy to keep topping up our drinks and clearing our plates as we tried the different canapés.
After eating at the bar we headed out for the night. Ali was ready to rest up and went back to the room. Dee decided we should try something different - Karaoke. Lana googled a karoake bar and we set off, only to eventually find that it was in the bottom of a small shopping mall where the ladies of the night liked to hang out. The karoake bar was one of the ones where you hire a room and hang in there with your mates. They gave us a tour and we declined to partake.
Back outside we found a bar in Cuppage Lane. It is a carriage bar. They served the most delicious ice cream cocktails, a perfect dessert to end our night.
