After much organisation and anticipation our holiday has arrived. Ken had been studying Art History at UWA this year and is keen to head to many (too many?) galleries.
Abandoned by our children, the ever reliable Mike and Judy dropped us at the airport
. After our French holiday with them last year they were wishing they were coming too and we will miss their company.
The house is in good hands with the Q House Sitting Team moving in, so nothing to think about but enjoying the adventure ahead. A glass of wine while waiting to board the plane in the revamped Perth airport
We flew Qatar Airlines which was comfy and I managed to get quite a bit of sleep. Ken and I weren't sitting together. We both had aisle seats, one in front of the other. It wasn't really a problem as I intended sleeping and conversation wasn't on the agenda.
Arriving in Doha we slowed as we walked off the plane, looking out for a friend's daughter who we knew was on the same flight. We hadn't spotted her in Perth or in-flight and still managed to completely miss her! While we were waiting we bumped into a guy Ken used to work with who was travelling with his wife to Houston. It was nice to see them and we spent a bit of time chatting.
The Doha airport has certainly improved since we were there in 2013. It looks great but our transit was short so we didn't have time to look around. Pretty soon we were back on the plane, a smaller one this time, and flying off to Edinburgh.
Edinburgh airport is small and it took a while to get through the customs, not that it mattered because it took forever for the luggage to come through. It was interesting watching all the EU passport holders go through the express lane. After the vote this week, they can kiss that goodbye!
