Shopping

London, England, United Kingdom
This morning I headed off to explore the vast shopping strip of Oxford Street. Ken was hitting the galleries. We parted ways after having a good coffee at Grind on High Holborn.
I made my way without getting too lost .There is an intersection of Oxford/High Holborn/Shaftesbury Ave that can be confusing but I realised my error and quickly corrected.
I wandered in and out of shops and department stores. All the high street stores are here and everyone has a sale on at the moment. There were large crowds, all criss-crossing the street in the hunt for a bargain.
I managed to buy myself a couple of things, but enjoyed checking it all out. I headed home, a little bit exhausted, clocking up nearly 10kms in the shopping trip.
Home to rest with a delicious punnet of raspberries, £1 at a fruit stall on the street.
Ken was still in the National Gallery, after visiting the Coultard in the morning. Both lived up to his expectations and he finally arrived home, exhausted also.
We had booked theatre tickets online this morning to see The Comedy About A Bank Robbery at the Criterion, near Piccadilly Circus. We left home in plenty of time to sight see and have a bite to eat. The theatre district was really busy as everyone headed out for the evening. We stopped at a bar called Poplo and sat at the bar. We had a few snacks and a drink, chatting to a guy from New Zealand who now lives here.
Dinner done, we went directly to the theatre, just in case we got lost! Found it, found our seats in plenty of time. The play was funny, a slapstick comedy that was corny, but very enjoyable.
After the play we were wandering past Piccadilly Circus. The place was full of people coming out of all the theatres and then we heard The French. They had taken over the centre of the Circus, climbing onto the statue to celebrate their win against Germany in the semi-final. They were singing and chanting and generally having a great time. It was quite a sight and a lot of fun. They drew a crowd to watch them, so that there was a mass of people in the one little area. Cars and busses were beeping their horns as they went around the roundabout. A fantastic spectacle.
We walked home through crowds of people at the door of each theatre we passed. Back up the 64 stairs and exhausted for another day.
