British Museum and Indian

London, England, United Kingdom
Today was our last full day in London and we checked our list of things we had yet to do. The British Museum is just around the corner and a must see. We walked straight there without getting lost - finally, we know our way around. We were early, but the Great Court was open and we found our way to the cafe for our morning coffee. The Great Court is a beautiful place, all white and majestic, with light streaming in through the glass ceiling. The crowds began to fill the hall and the doors opened and in they streamed.
The Egyptian display is one of the best in the world and the exhibits are truly amazing . The Rosetta Stone is a draw card and everyone congregated around, taking photos. Sunday may not be the best time to visit as it was so busy in this area, large groups of students jostling with their backpacks and taking selfies in front of objects.
We continued on, admiring the amazing collections from 1000s of years ago. When we had exhausted ourselves we stopped and had lunch before realising we had missed a Raphael drawing and some watercolours on the top floor. So, back up we went and they were worth the climb. The BM is a free museum and well worth a visit.
Ken was keen to see the London Library and I was keen to wander the streets, so we parted ways and I headed to Covent Garden and the Seven Dials, 7 streets connected by a monument. I managed to get there without getting lost, almost a local! There were some interesting shops in this area, a lot of shoe shops, but my feet had walked way too far that day to be trying on shoes.
Eventually I made my way back home. We were going to have a drink at the Square Pig, but it is not open on a Sunday .
We still hadn't had an Indian meal in London so that was on the agenda for this evening. I had heard that Dishoom was good, so that was the destination. We stopped and had a drink on the way in Upper St Martins Street before going to the restaurant. By the time we got there, there was a line outside and a 45 minute wait, so we kept walking. How hard can it be to find an Indian in London? We did find one and they had the TV on to watch the soccer final so all was good. The food was delicious, a little sweet, but tasty, and washed down with some beers watching the game was a perfect way to spend a night. At full time it was still 0-0 so we left and walked the streets until we found a pub to watch time extra time and see Portugal beat France. There were some in the crowd who were happy but it was a little disappointing.
We walked home (no getting lost) and got organised to leave tomorrow.
