How High Can You Go

Monte Sant'Angelo, Puglia, Italy
Naples to Monte Sant'Angelo, autostrada in our Fiat 500= 2 hours. Uphill with a multitude of hairpin turns=another two hours(which seemed much longer) I am the navigator, Charles is the driver. The GPS is great save for the fact that SHE talks rapidly and is firing out street names in Italian, over and over. We estimate SHE "recalculated maybe 50 times" just in a span of five minutes. But eventually we reached our hotel which was perched on the highest point in town.         Stressful events-decline of our credit card which entailed numerous emails to our son, Michael, realization that we took wrong adapter and our connection to the internet, my kindle(which is horrible to write on-always replacing my words with what it likes) was going to die soon, and regrets by both of us for not taking the phone on this "aventura"

So how to cope with stress, Vino is a possible and delicious solution . So despite exhaustion,we have now been up for 30 hours minus short nap=duration 3 hrs on the plane,we head into town, walking downhill which means the way back uphill WILL be a challenge. I am compelled to eat only in restaurants I have read about, luckily my choice is close by, Osteria Dell' Corso. Roberto is sitting outside, I know his name having read the reviews. What a find, "Faccia lei", which means what should we have, your suggestion. He starts us with an antipasto of all local products with house wine-we are in heaven(literally, close in altitude),he follows with cavatelli with eggplant, we can eat no more!!!!! Just a little room for espresso and cookies with almonds. Fare passagiata ,a slow walk uphill and it is buona notte for the only Americans in this hilltown
