Woke up to the birds singing and ironically someone’s car alarm. We headed to Makena State park, two surfing instructors were giving lessons. They lent Charles and Phil water shoes as the ocean floor is littered with lava rocks and sea urchins. We saw this old guy on the beach body surfing, one of the instructors told us it was his mentor Llima Kalama, a 1966 surfing idol who is now 76. Goes to prove that age should not deter you from doing what you love, he still surfs. The latest craze is paddleboarding hydrofoil ,where you rise above the water.
We then decided to take a ride to Jaws Beach on the other side of the island. Phil, our navigator, directed us down a dirt road filled with mud holes, we reached an impasse that said only 4 x4 vehicles. Phil wanted us to continue on, we over-ruled him. We then went to a lookout point for the beach, you can’t get there by car. Huge waves, and cows.....
Dawn and I shopped and then met the guys for sunset. Our view was island blocked and clouded in. But we were determined to perform our lei ceremony ,legend has it if you throw the flowers into the ocean, you will return. We watched young locals(8years old) just jump off the pier and catch some waves close by, We then headed to Star Noodle, the number one restaurant and had a delicious bowl of noodles. Off to Waikiki, Oahu tomorrow. Maloha

Sounds like a great day. Good choice to over rule Phil.
