The Grand Canyon

Kauai, Hawaii, United States
Kuaui, the garden isle, craggy mountains, gorgeous valleys and breezy beaches. More streams and waterfalls than all the other islands...
I’m reminiscing back over 40 years when I visited here while living in California. I recall it as a place of unparalleled natural beauty and it still is
From Nawiliwili we drive down a eucalyptus road, a canopy of hundreds of these trees. They joke of it as a political highway. Just like a politician the trees grew straight and tall when young but become crooked with age. “U clipped us”
We stop by a cliff side with numerous water spouts formed by the waves crashing into the shore. This area Poi Pu was a ancient gathering place but is now a “gathering” of multi million $$ homes.
We stop for a coffee tasting at a 3,100 acre farm where harvesting season is now working on its 4 million coffee trees.
Climbing to an elevation of over 9,000 feet we view their Grand Canyon, Waimea, a smaller version of ours but their rocks look as if a blanket of moss has been spread over them.  Green, green  Breathtaking. Spectacular views and a waterfall in the distance (NASA has a tracking station at 4,009 feet)
At night we eat at the Asian  restaurant and head to the broadway show, it’s disappointing we then head to the hypnotist, strike two.... we then head to the crew talent show which finishes our night on a high note, it’s great
We laugh the next day at breakfast someone mistakes Dawn for the hypnotist

The Canyon looks incredible. I am curious to see how their coffee tastes.
