Glide past Camera Obscura to Gladstone’s Land, original tenement building. Peel off to a wynd (a narrow lane, duck under a “pend”,( an arched gate) and sneak into a “close”( a tiny alley)
This dead ends into a beautiful courtyard where the Writers Museum details Robert Louis Stevenson’s life. He penned Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde after a local resident, Brodie, who was a councilman by day and a jackal at night
17Century The world flocked here to see the “ skyscrapers”. They found themselves in the most densely populated city in Europe that was also the filthiest.-
