Pair us up with an interesting and witty guide on a free walking tour and it’s a perfect match.  So many sights and stories in 2 1/2 hours- the last 15 minutes in a downpour…. Drenched !  But so worth it.
      We saw and learned so much. A fun game- All over the city are hidden small little bird statues, we’d shout out and point as we spotted them on our walk. We learned about McQuarie who was responsible for most of the building here. Quite a character as he named everything after himself, his wife and his friends.
      A single file walk through the Sewer Canal Street- you can guess its origin.  Down busy Georgia Street to the Opera House- magnificent. Designed by a Danishman,  Jorn Utzon .Estimated cost 7 million and 4 years to build, when it went over budget they fired him, final cost was 102 million and it took 14 years   Sadly, the architect left Sydney and never returned to see the finished project 

Q: Sydney is the first major city to see ______(_hint!) It’s fireworks celebration lasts over an hour!
