Papeete, Windward Islands, French Polynesia
Late night arrival in Papeete, shuttle deposits us at our hilltop guest house (Fare Sussse) Nighttime serenade is rooster crowing. In the morning we encounter the headliner. Breakfast served on a veranda- spiced with numerous interesting travel conversations. Banana cake, homemade bread and jellies, local fruit. Off to the ferry-30 minute ride to Moorea.
In the distance we see this fairytale island. The green mountain peaks are cloaked in clouds. The water is a full spectrum of blue. We share a cab and then lunch with a California couple who have just returned from Brando Island( Yes, Marlon’s private escape)
Our over- the- water bungalow at the Hilton is over- the-top!!thatched style, ideally situated with a view of the mountains. A front porch, an entry deck. We spend hours in the clear, tranquil waters. Happiness!!! Words can’t express our delight. Photos might come close.
This heart shaped island has truly captured our hearts. (We are already planning our return)

A Pigeon Post- its great barrier island used this system 1894-1908 written on light paper called “flimsies”

Silver tip sharks. I can't imagine a better place to visit. I am dying to stay in one of those cottages on the water. Hopefully your plan is to bring me back with you, lol.
