Travel day back to “the most crowded city in the world”via Nozomi. Michael is at the Park Hyatt, it is spectacular. Today’s title is from the movie that was filmed there years ago. Remarkable that we have managed to sync our holiday here with Michael and spend two days together. His room (which he is sharing with us ) has a full unobstructed view of the city from its 44th floor location.
We gather at the Bar up top with his friend Harrison before heading out on the town. Tonight we are dining Yakinku style, different cuts of beef cooked on a small grill in front of us. Each morsel is a gourmet delight…..Asian pear sorbet - a perfect closer.
We taxi to the infamous Shibuya crossing, a replica of Times Square magnified. Seven crosswalks converge with throngs of people. This scramble is loud, lively and boisterous. At true representation of this city. 1,000 to 2,500 people forge their way across this intersection every two minutes- action in all directions They meet in the middle in a frantic mess, bumping, side stepping, swerving, photo taking, as they try to cross. Then it stops, the curbs refill and it begins again.
