Borrachudos!!

Ilhabela, State of São Paulo, Brazil
We tender in, the sapphire water fading into a misty green near shore. Mountains and trees  outline the horizon, beach  is bordered by an esplanade.  This island well known to locals - a revelation to us tourists.  Pirates were plentiful here raiding Portuguese settlements and ships(legends of buried treasure)  long ago.
The sky is overcast, humid….limits our exploration. We wander in the small town filled with beautiful shops, cafes. Missed opportunity to visit the island’s waterfalls and unspoiled rainforest! (Perhaps in the next life)
Local myth:  “When God created this island he realized he’d made true paradise, so he had to balance things out. He infested the land with borrachudos, a small black fly that wrecks havoc on the beach”.
A:Brazil now supplies 1/3 of world’s coffee
Q. Cachaca- local favorite- do you eat it, drink it or rub it over fly bites?

I agree with the girls...You stumped me with "tender in"!!! The photo of Charles helped me to figure out the word! Have fun! I live through your adventures.

Looks like so much fun and excitement. Hope you stopped long enough to have a cup of coffee. See you both when you get home!

Your visits are like reading a great book. You are so descriptive, and I feel like I am there. If only I was. Each city is unique, and you and Charles seem to be having a great time.
