Morning visit to Villa Commuale- park created by an English woman who visited here on her Grand Tour and decided to stay. Beautiful plants, trees and unusual structures( unknown origin) and a Bella vista.
Afternoon- we venture upwards- seeking additional heights. Castelmola- a medieval town balanced on cliff above Taormina. Nail biting turns on ascent, small streets, narrow pathways at top- walled ruins of a castle.
Quirky side note- the town’s central bar displays an eclectic array of phallic paraphernalia, you can order their almond wine in that shaped glass- NO Grazie!

Dinner Al Giardino minestrone, mussels, ravioli with pistachio cream sauce and the best caponata ever as a side-surrounded by flowered walls with ceramic birds and butterflies. We end the night parading with a local band as they entertain diners on the main pedestrian only thoroughfare Friday night here is a festival!

We are enjoying your trip the photos bring back memories. Do they recommend serving the Happy Pasta with a pistachio nut sauce? See if you can find the reasoning behind decorating piazza’s, and walkways with umbrellas. I wasn’t able to on previous trips all over Italy.
