Our last breakfast at Casa Talía, Marco joins us once again. We delay our departure- reluctant to leave this magical hillside.
A hour drive to Noto- put on American radar by the series White Lotus. The Portal Reale welcomes us into the land of honey- colored buildings, a Baroque fairyland , so excessively ornate. Getting lost in their warren like maze of streets is a photographic delight. Extravagant palazzos, interspersed with unique shops and restaurants.
The Noto Cathedral is MASSIVE, overwhelming its space , concealing the simplicity of its interior. Across squats the Palazzo Durenzo, just a slight less intimidating in size and opulence.

We lunch at Sabbfiniruca- sandwiches packed with Sicilian delicacies then topped off by an almond granita at Dolceria Costanzo.
Onward to our last stay- the small island of Ortigia , Siracusa. Overflowing with tourists as it is the last day of the G7 exposition. We find Palazzo del Sale, and explore the city.
At night after a wonderful fish dinner at Cod da Saretta. We stroll. In the piazza Duomo we come upon a large crowd. Opera is being sung from a balcony- he is wonderful, but a surprise, a door opens across from him and a women joins in song. This is a true memory of the heart. An indescribable feeling of being at this place, at this time, for this incredible unexpected street concert. So joyful, all around as are people singing, clapping, dancing… we feel so blessed and privileged to be a part of it.
This is the essence of Sicily!!!!!

Thank You for taking me along with you. I have been looking for the flora and fauna. I would have brought my clippers and been arrested for smuggling plants. Looking forward to seeing you when you get back to Florida. I had the garden club at my house, and they were let loose to take cuttings. There are still some left for you. You all be careful. Love Ya! Susan
