A TITANIC FLOP

Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden
Woke up to the sound of seagulls flying outside our window, how wonderful it is to stay right on the water. Breakfast looking out on sailboats, the natives are taking full advantage of this warm, sunny day and we are just marveling at our good fortune to have perfect weather on this Baltic adventure.
Our last day we walk along the shore to another island that houses the Vasa museum, contained within is a GIGANTIC restored vessel . This glamorous but unseaworthy warship sank minutes after its maiden voyage in 1628, yes that is not a misprint date. 333 years later it was resurrected from the bottom of the harbor's floor. It is amazing, it had brightly colored wooden sculptures adorning it, 64 cannons and a 10 foot carved lion on its magnificent prow.
We then set off for Djurgarden, (was king' s hunting grounds) A supposedly short walk that turned into 5 mile stroll, totally lost, everyone helpful but unsure which direction to point us, Finally......found the gardens took a quick look and headed to the tram.
Arrived back, C relaxed and I went on a walking tour of the old city. Saw a few new sites, learned some more trivia.
-the Noble House approves new words in Swedish, first word to get in 2013 was ungoogable, Google challenged it but it lost, it is considered a mainstream word.
_when Danish king attacked old city in 1700's, the nobles rallied together and fought them off for 6 months, with no supplies they surrendered to the Danes with the proviso that their lives be spared . The Danes agreed. When the Danish leader then became king he invited all the nobles to the ceremony,92 in all, at the end he ordered the doors of the cathedral shut and decreed the nobles would all die. They marched them out and beheaded them all. This bloody event was the inspiration for the bloody wedding scene in Game of Thrones.
-Here in Sweden you have to pass 6 tests to get your drivers license, one of which is a simulated test of your ability to handle cold, icy weather conditions, another test is on car repair and maintenance.
Last night was Vapiano' s again, pasta arrabiatta and a spinach pizza, this was on the wall and I thought a fitting ending to this blog
FEAR LESS, HOPE MORE
EAT LESS, CHEW MORE
TALK LESS,SAY MORE
HATE LESS,LOVE MORE
AND ALL GOOD THINGS WILL BE YOURS!
