Split, Croatia
We arrive at the port city, water a welcoming shade of blue. We walk to the central square and find a wonderful tour guide named Anthony. He is so very nice, lived in Queens for a while but is a native. We wait for the entrance of the "emperor" introduced by bugles and music from Ben Hur. Anthony tells us the reenactment is false as the emperor would be alone with no woman beside him and we as witnesses would have to be on our knees.
We pass by the huge statue of Ivan Mestrovic, we rub his well worn big toe for luck

He then takes us to the 3rd century Chapel of St . Martin, who is the patron of wine, the poor and virgins. Martin/ martini ??? Our guide tells us to be careful of "open theft" as we walk through the tiny streets of Diocletian's palace. The narrowest street is called "let me pass" We stop for water at the local fountain, the emperor always had the water tested before drinking as his wives might be out to kill him. We climb many steps for the view but it is very hot and no breeze...

Anthony suggest lunch and we decide to treat him as we agree totally with his politics. We have a wonderful antipasto of their local cheese, octopus and vegetables with white wine. But then, out comes the lamb and goat which is Awful!!! And high priced. We are all upset as the chef comes out and tells us it was an "old goat", we are going to dispute this bill!

We may have to make a stop at the vomitarium which the emperor constructed because of the overeating habits of the wealthy... Ugh!!!

Highlight talking to Megan like she was around the corner and to Anthony who was flying to Minot ,ND.
